Onstage Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2, 2026. This policy applies to the Onstage application for Android and Windows, developed by Wavefire Solutions PH.

IN SHORT

Onstage does not collect any personal information. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind built into the app.

Onstage is a self-contained, offline-first music application. Everything you create - your sound patches, setlists, ambient pad settings, MIDI mappings, and audio preferences - is stored only on your own device. We never see it.

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information Onstage ("the app", "we", "us") collects and how it is used. The short answer is simple: we do not collect anything.

Onstage is designed so that your performances and settings remain entirely yours. The app runs, loads sounds, and plays without requiring an internet connection, an account, or any personal identifier.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

Because the app has no data collection built in, we do not collect any of the following:

  • Personal information - the app itself does not collect your name, email address, phone number, or mailing address. (The email you use to purchase a license is handled by our external web store and is not collected by the app - see Section 5.)
  • Usage analytics - we do not track how you use the app, which features you open, or how long you use it.
  • Crash reports or diagnostics - no automatic error reporting is enabled.
  • Location data - the app does not access or request your location.
  • Advertising or tracking identifiers - no advertising ID is collected, and no identifier is used for ads, analytics, or profiling. (A device identifier is transmitted solely for license validation as described in Section 5, and is never used to track you.)
  • Contacts, photos, media, or files - the app never reads your contacts, gallery, or other personal files.
  • Audio or MIDI input - your playing, performances, and MIDI messages stay on your device and are never transmitted or recorded by us.
  • Advertising identifiers - Onstage contains no advertisements and no ad-related SDKs.

3. Data Storage & Local-Only Processing

All app content is stored locally on your device. This includes your imported SoundFont (.sf2) sound library, custom patches, setlists, scenes, ambient pad configurations, MIDI learn mappings, and application settings.

Your content never leaves your device. You remain in full control: you can export your setup as a content pack (.onpack) file whenever you want, or delete individual content or the entire app at any time.

4. Permissions & Network Use

Onstage is intentionally lightweight with permissions. The Android version declares a small set of permissions, each for a clear, functional purpose - none of which are used to collect data:

  • Internet - used only (a) to validate your license key when you choose to activate the full version (Section 5), and (b) to download content packs that you explicitly request, such as the included sound packs. The app does not use the network for analytics, ads, or tracking.
  • Wake lock - keeps the audio engine running reliably during live performances while the screen is on.
  • USB MIDI (declared as optional) - lets you connect a USB MIDI keyboard to the app.
  • Bluetooth - used only if you choose to connect a Bluetooth MIDI (BLE MIDI) controller.

None of these permissions grant us access to your personal data, and all of them can be fully used offline.

5. License Activation (Full Version)

Onstage is free to download and runs in Demo Mode with no time limits. To unlock the full version, you purchase a license key and enter it in the app. This optional, user-initiated step is the only case where any information is transmitted over the internet.

During activation, the app sends two things to our license server to confirm the key is valid and bound to a single device: the license key you typed, and a device identifier. This identifier is generated by the operating system (the Android ID on Android, or the machine identifier on Windows) and is used only to enforce the one-device-at-a-time licensing model - for example, to know which device a license is linked to and to allow you to unlink it. It is not an advertising ID and is never used for tracking, profiling, or analytics.

The email address associated with the license is not collected by the app - it is the email you used to complete the license purchase on our external web store, outside of the app. The app only displays that email (shown as "Licensed to") as part of the license record so you can confirm which license is active on your device.

This communication is limited strictly to license validation. We use this information solely to operate the licensing service and prevent unauthorized use of license keys. We do not use it for marketing, profiling, analytics, or any other purpose, and it is never shared with third parties.

You can unlink your license from a device at any time from inside the app. No purchase or license activation is required to use Onstage in Demo Mode.

6. Third-Party Services

Onstage contains no third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs. The app does not integrate with Google Analytics, Firebase, AdMob, or similar services.

Downloads of content packs are hosted on GitHub Releases. GitHub's own servers process these downloads in accordance with GitHub's privacy practices, but no personal information about you is collected by the app itself.

7. Children's Privacy

Onstage is a music performance tool and is not directed to children under 13. Because the app does not collect any personal information from any user - including children - there is no personal data that could be collected from a child.

8. Data Security

Since Onstage does not collect or store personal data on our servers, there is no personal data for us to secure on your behalf. The small amount of licensing data described in Section 5 is transmitted over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and is limited to what is necessary to operate the licensing service.

9. Your Choices & Control

  • Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored content (patches, setlists, sounds, and settings) from your device.
  • Deleting content packs or individual patches can be done from inside the app at any time.
  • Exporting your setup as a .onpack content pack lets you back up or move your data whenever you want.
  • Unlinking your license from a device is available in the app's About section if you have activated the full version.
  • Emails you send us (for example, support requests) are used only to respond to you and are not added to any marketing list.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Any changes take effect when the updated policy is posted here. We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
